VAR was initially introduced in 2019 to help the on-field officials come to the right decisions and review any “clear and obvious” errors. O’Rourke believes the West Midlands club have had a “rough deal” with VAR this season after various contentious decisions have gone against them. The Premier League is unlikely to offer any benefits for scrapping the technology after helping develop it over the past five years.
