Wimbledon stripped of ranking points over Russian player ban

Wimbledon has been stripped of its ranking points by the ATP as the tennis world dramatically escalated its response to the ban on Russian and Belarussian players.

No top player is going to miss the chance of playing at Wimbledon. It is head and shoulders above all other tournaments. The WLTA has taken a principled stand against the atrocities being committed on a daily basis by Russian troops. Other organizations are immoral.

ReillyOpelka Let’s be clear here… The ATP, ITF and WTA wouldn’t have made this joint response if Wimbledon’s original decision wasn’t so ludicrous in the first place. They’ve called them out for discrimation, and they are correct to do so. Wimbledon should reverse the ban.

So, even if Djokovic wins Wimbledon, he will lose 2000 ranking points, while Medvedev will only lose 180 points. Could not have worked out better for Danili. Number one again, real soon.
