Ryanair will be getting 40 new Boeing aircraft by the end of June

US plane giant Boeing has come under renewed scrutiny in recent days following an incident on Monday which saw one of its 787s ‘freeze’ in mid-air while bound for Auckland, New Zealand by keeping its orders for more 737s in place, an expert has said, adding that the Irish airliner has one of the best safety records in the world.

“We’ve asked Boeing to stop building Max 10s, which they’ve done, for us and start building Max 9s,” Mr Kirby said on Tuesday. “It’s impossible to say when the Max 10 is going to get certified.”Ryanair’s executives said at the end of January that if any US customers refused to take delivery of 737 Max 10 aircraft, the Irish airline would buy them “at the right price”.

Based on the audit Boeing is continuing to implement immediate changes and is developing a plan to strengthen safety and quality, the planemaker told Reuters. Ryanair said on 1 March that Boeing now expects to deliver just 40 of the 57 planned 737 Max 8-200 aircraft that were due for delivery before the end of June 2024.
