You might not have noticed, but apparently you’re living through something of a revolution. In a New York Times article last week, Taylor Lorenz documents the “ok boomer” meme that’s become “ a rallying cry for millions of fed up kids” and an “endlessly repeated retort to the problem of older people who just don’t get it”. Now it’s war, the Times asserts: Gen Z has finally snapped over climate change and financial inequality.

This piece makes millenials sound old.

We've had thirty years and thousands of think pieces, largely penned by boomers, dismissing gen x as slackers and millennials as snowflakes, but 'okay boomer' trends as a pejorative for half a minute and suddenly generational slurs are beyond the pale?

Only just found out yesterday I'm a millennial (the very oldest millennial) so all that masses of on-going criticism for this generation was also for me. Therefore, I'm glad there's an 'OK Boomer' comeback. It's only fair.

as a GenX'er, I have been complaining about boomer mentality for my entire adult life. A selfish and short-sighted mentality has run the world into the mess we are in. I am glad the younger generations have found a way to rally where we failed.

Boomer is a cool nickname. I think it's pretty funny when its used by kids that think it's an insult. Just reinforces the boomer's belief that kids don't know anything.

Agreed. Plus, it's not any different than racism or misogyny. It's discrimination based on what period someone was born in. Which makes about as much sense as discrimination based on skin color or gender.
