Yesterday was Remembrance Sunday and the Royal Family attended a memorial service at the Cenotaph in London.
Poppies are worn in order to remember those that gave their life in battle because they were the flowers that grew on the battle field after World War One, as described in the famous poem In Flanders Fields. She reportedly wears one for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Civil Defence and the final poppy is to represent women.
The brooch Kate wore has “lest we forget” inscribed on the back and was released earlier this year so as to honour the 13,000 men and women on the Bletchley Park roll of honour.
