Why did Spotify choose Joe Rogan over Neil Young?

Young started the scuffle when he posted a letter to his website Monday, addressed to his manager and an executive at his record label, demanding that his music catalogue be removed from Spotify in response to “fake information about vaccines.”

Spotify have 100 million reasons to chose Rogan. It’s all about $$$.

I'm guessing spending $100mil on getting exclusive rights to Joe Rogans podcast and the 11 million or so monthly listeners might have had something to do with it

Spotify is smart

Because Neil Young is someone who benefits from the exposure Spotify gives him but he isn’t their CEO or their censor. Rogan is not demanding they drop Neil Young. If Young is suggestible to government propaganda, someone will love him for it.

Because free-speech matters. There was a time when these hippies believe that.

Because Joe Rogan makes them more money. It's not rocket science

Neil Young gets maybe 5 down loads a month. Rogan gets over a million down loads a day. Why do you suppose Spotify chose Rogan? Neil Young needs to join with Jerry Mathers and Henry Winkler to form some sort of support group for has bens.

The question is why does a has been artist think he has the right to choose what others listen to. The level of arrogance and self entitlement...

They did not choose Joe Rogan, they followed a request from an artist to remove their music!

There was no choice. Young tried to bully and extort. Rogan has made no demands towards Spottily or Young.

Greed, stupidity & short-termism.

Maybe because they didn't have a heart of gold !

I don't think Neil young ever really expected Spotify to choose him. But in choosing Joe, Spotify signalled they consciously stand by disinformation which has now made people quite angry. Neil basically sacrificed himself to start a movement.
