The general election will see the UK's political parties face-off across the length and breadth of the country - but some contests will be more keenly fought than others.
His huge victory was delivered, in large part, by the Tories' success in winning over previous Labour voters in 'Red Wall' seats across the North and Midlands. This month's Redfield & Wilton Strategies poll of 'Red Wall' voters found Labour leading the Tories by 25 percentage points - a five-point rise from April.
With the Tories trailing far behind in opinion polls, Rishi Sunak will be looking to mount a desperate defence of those 'Red Wall' constituencies the Conservatives won in 2019 Labour will be attempting to win over disgruntled Conservatives in these seats, while the Liberal Democrats have also been pouring resources into these areas.
'Blue Wall' constituencies are defined as the 42 seats that - among other factors - are in the South of England and were won by the Tories in 2019, 2017 and 2015. The MRP study, based on detailed seat-by-seat polling, found Sir Keir was set to win 28 Scottish seats at the general election compared to the SNP's 19, while the Tories and Liberal Democrats would win five each.
But since their high-water mark in 2015 - the year after the Scottish independence referendum - the SNP's fortunes have suffered a gradual decline.
