Its representatives are mainly shilling gas

than for other hydrocarbons, like oil or coal. Gas is the least grubby fossil fuel: per unit of energy, it produces about half the carbon emissions of coal. Gas’s proponents are trying to position it as a “bridge fuel” to be used while countries transition towards renewables

.The Egyptian government has been especially keen to welcome the fossil-fuel industry: it is the firstin which their executives have been invited to participate in official events. In the fiscal year 2019-20, oil and gas production generated 24% of the country’s. With its economy struggling, the government is determined to boost that share.

There to discuss what actually powers the world, and to represent their people. Hello

The only lobbyists are those anty fosil fuels

Are seriously asking what the are doing there? They trying to water down, delay, alter targets and finally kill us all by preventing a real agreement!

That is a joke

Would you rather they shill coal?

FossilFuels are killing us

As they should. Gas is clean

Gas is still a fossil fuel. And leaking gas lines (methane) need I say anymore. This needs rethinking. It's all bollocks anyway but just saying.

Transitioning, LOL, as if that rubbish scam is ever going to work. I'm waiting for the list of excuses when this renewable energy stuff DOESN'T WORK. There'll never be enough of it, so we'll be transitioning forever. Transitioning IS THE EXCUSE for its failure.

Are they really though or are they just pushing gas because this transition couldn’t come at a worse time for every nation on this planet?

What is explan?

The Oil Industry has a history of taking control of the environmental agenda in their areas of operations in order to control the roll out of rules & legislation that would impact their operations and reduce their profits. A strategy called “Be ahead of the legislation”

Perhaps energy and fossil fuels (80% of total energy) are a foundation for civilised life and someone needs to remind delegates of that in a forum in which its benefits are routinely overlooked? Or that gas provides huge scope for pragmatic decarbonisation by displacing coal?

How did all those protesters get there?

COP27: Lack of women at negotiations raises concernWomen barely feature in negotiations in Egypt despite bearing the brunt of climate change. I feel like the only way to make it fair, and to stop this kind of complaints, is to start sending delegations made of 2+ mixed-gender represenentatives. This would require some sort of an international agreement, though, to make it mandatory for all participating countries. On the other hand they could simply be selected on the basis of ability.
