We can’t afford to let local news fade away | LettersLetters: Local newsgathering is in crisis, but all is not lost, says Tim Luckhurst It already did. That ship has already sailed moons ago, moored off the French Polynesian Isles and watched the BBC leech off it's remains. There are no local newspapers; just 26 page freesheets full of Press Releases, ads and BMDs. So, SO sad. Britain faces a crisis in local news and the closure of radio stations exacerbates it. Such reporting is essential if local government is to be held to account,

Sunday Brunch: 'Big rival' Simon Rimmer jibes at fellow chef James MartinSUNDAY BRUNCH saw Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy joined by a whole host of guests as usual and they couldn’t help but point out how one of them, chef James Martin, was a “big rival”. It's just banter ffs. 'Journalist' watches TV show. Writes about it. Gives it a sensational headline. Looks for tweets from random people to include in article. Publishes it. Gets paid (probably on overtime). Continues to snoop around TV for rest of day looking for things that didn't happen. Pathetic
