President Macron has pledged the cathedral will be rebuilt

Hmm not sure how the gilets jaunes will take this, a paradox indeed. They themselves like to burn and deface relics but in their hearts they view the Notre Dame as a sacred entity. Where's the money going to come from to restore it, taxpayers ? Vicious cycle

Good. I wish them all the best on this enterprise. The fire is a disaster of epic scale. The oss of 850 years of culture is not only a loss to France and it's people but to us all.

Was anyone else watching this and thinking... 'Ok, it's an old building and it's a shame but, no one died. Why are people crying and why are world leaders paying tributes?' Is it because we live in a world where we have fake compassion? Yes. The answer is yes.
