Following some record-breaking rainfall brought by multiple storms over the colder months, the roads around Nottinghamshire are now suffering from a rise in potholes, with authorities struggling to manage the repair demand. And despite the county council's best efforts to tackle the craters, residents are saying not enough work is being done.
Mr Cockayne said that, over the years, a stretch of the road has been repaired, but the road is still ridden with holes. He added: "It's just a question of when you're going to damage your wheels, I wouldn't like to think how much it would cost me. "They fill in tiny little bits but, two minutes later, there's another crack. We always drive really slowly because we know about all the potholes so we've not had any damage done to our cars yet."
Sarah Lee, 53, lives on the road and said that potholes are particularly bad at the moment. She said: "It would be lovely to have something done about it but, realistically, is that going to happen? This comes as Westdale Lane, which runs from Mapperley to Gedling, has been crowned the county's worst road for potholes by residents and drivers. At the time of writing, there were 10 potholes reported on Greendale Road.
