Earlier this month, for the first time in recent memory, pronghorn antelope ventured into the sun-scorched lowlands of Death Valley national park. Undeterred by temperatures that climbed to over 110F, the animals were observed by park staff browsing on a hillside not far from Furnace Creek visitor center.
XRebelDC Another indication that, given the chance and without humans exploiting, ruining and polluting everything, wildlife, and life on earth in general would bounce back and thrive.
This sounds wonderful, doesn't it? But, what's going to happen the the visitors go back - or should they?
This is a reflection on how human beings have deliberately become a nuisance to other creatures who also have a right to enjoy life in their natural areas of habitat. And this calls for those parks, beaches etc to be closed to human activities may be for two months each year.
What I'm interested in is how animals are starting to use and hang out in human infrastructure. I would say a very serious photo essay is in order. Maybe even a coffee table book 'When Humans Die Animals Party.' Animals are truly afraid of us and they shouldn't be. We are idiots.
Not shocked
Whahhs that?, huntin' season..... Just shows that wildlife will be fine and happy when Humans go extinct
Re-open the parks to far fewer people than we have in the past. We've been loving them to death.
Wildlife can survive and thrive without humans! Humans endanger the wildlife...Man is the worse thing to wildlife....to life.
amazing what happens when you stop trying to micromanage nature...
those animals were out there. they didn't magically appear. if you've never seen it it's because you never went far enough.
Well it is theirs after all.
I once saw a bear exactly like this one - that close - in Yosemite. I had to throw away those pants when I got back to my tent.
Wildlife thrives while the big bad humans are inside.
