As actress Hilary Duff celebrates her husband's vasectomy, Owen Pearman tells i why he had the procedure in 2022
I looked into it and found that there were essentially no side effects to having a vasectomy. I felt positive about the idea. For us as a couple, it was the easiest option. My doctor didn’t question my decision – it was completely up to me, which was great. We should all be in charge of our bodies. He emphasised that it was permanent and that I should make an informed decision. It couldn’t have been more different to what my wife experienced. I had the procedure done about three months after my first appointment. The whole process was a breeze.at a doctor’s surgery.
It was a bit sore and uncomfortable after. I had it done on a Friday and I spent the weekend on the sofa feeling a bit sorry for myself, and being acknowledged as a hero. I was back at work on Monday, and I avoided the gym for about a week. It was nothing compared to what my wife had been through when she had an IUD fitted and was in serious pain for a week.
