What do you think of the change?

Mr Anthony said: “My friend’s father is a season ticket holder and during the winter games he always takes a flask with hot chocolate.

He added: “I wonder how many might be put off coming all together because they feel they can’t afford to buy hot drinks at the stadium?” “However, everyone should note that this practise will continue diminishing for a number of reasons – some of which may well be written into government legislation in the near future”, said Mr Pope.“Within their mandate is specific reference to items – the metal flask being an example – that should be prohibited from entering our stadium.”

Gino has clearly never queued for a kiosk in the Rookery at half time watfordfc

After 3 seasons of near perpetual misery for home fans, the club has decided that now is the time to try and squeeze a few extra quid out of their long suffering supporters. Fucking disgusting.

Probably one of the most pointless decisions I’ve ever seen

To be fair, I'm surprised WatfordFC still allow it. Most venues you're asked to take bottle tops off & are patted down. Suppose a hot drink could be a missle. But the not bringing food thing, hmmm for some it's their thing, take a sarnie. Just communicate it, do it properly

Was it communicated clearly? Felt sorry for the stewards, lots of disgruntled folk in the queue being told they can't take food in. But my friend could take her flask in because there wasn't a female steward to search her. But she had it in her hand. It hasn't been phased in

Another needless rule which serves no purpose except to pay a health and safety person to come up with something!! Next it will no food or no boots when our kiosks are dreadful and expensive - why not have hand made local food and drink - help local business

I took my coffee back one day because it was hot!!

Pathetic decision. As if each home game has to combat 'thermos' firms at each other.

Utterly Ridiculous. Staff are slow, hot food at the kiosks is awful and too expensive. Not to mention cold, oh the irony. Really makes me think of not renewing season tickets. WFC treat fans so badly!😡 Yet again it’s something else that leaves fans feeling bitter 👏🏻

It’s pathetic, just like their food outlets inside the stadium.

Of course it’s not going to be allowed they want you to buy food and drink inside. Surely everyone can understand that 🤦just eat and drink before you go in I always do.

The last time I bought “food” at Vicarage Road. This was 2017 and I’ve seen little to tempt me since.

Wrong timing with the cost of living crises. This is not a safety thing, rather WFC trying to get more money from the supporters! Where is the (Family club) now?

tHe OrIgInAl FaMiLy ClUb

Outrageous, my father took a flask for over 60 years, and seeing someone stopped from entering the ground with a sandwich, what has happened to our club. Forcing you to purchase overpriced low quality products in the stadium. This is not the family club we grew up with.

Force everyone who wants a hot drink at half time in winter, when it's sub Ero out, to congregate in the concourses for the duration of the half time break? Yeah, that's safer 🙄 I've been going to Watford since the 80s. My grandad always took a flask.

Also, the bigger question but never understood why food and drink in a football stadium has to be 4 times the price as anywhere else

In my 40+ years of attending the Vic I’ve never seen it heard of an incident involving a flask. Not that I’ve ever taken one but I’d imagine if drinks were more reasonably priced and accessible people would feel the need.

They want people to pay 13 quid for 2 hotdogs in the ground like i did yesterday

Need to look at pricing of food and drink / queues. No one wants to stand in a queue for the entirety of half time (& risk missing start of second half) to buy an overpriced cup of tea. WatfordFC

I have nothing but utter contempt for the board at Watford as it is. This latest measure is aimed at fleecing supporters, and nothing more. Going forward I won’t be buying any merch, programmes, food or drink at The Vic and will only be paying for my ST.

£6.50 for a pint. The club are robbing bastards. pozzoout

It's nothing to do with health and safety or violence increasing...its simply the club trying to rinse fans more. Which is pathetic given they often run out of hot drinks and how slow the service staff are.

The food and drink inside the ground is up there with some of the worst I’ve ever had. The beer is undrinkable

WatfordFC need to re look at the prices of food and drinks if this is the case of banning outside food and flasks ,what they charged in the ground is a rip off.

This is nothing to do with safety & everything to do with money. Yet the money involved is tiny compared to the revenues they get. At the same time if you’re going to ban food & drink, invest in some decent catering so people can at least eat something palatable.

Utterly ridiculous

I always take flask with hot drink for me and the kids. We don’t drink dairy so nothing to buy at the stadium. I won’t go in winter if I can’t have something to warm us up with us.

Bet they let players , coaches and “VIPs” in with flasks and hot drinks ..

Assume they haven’t lowered the price or improved the quality of a brew to compensate.

Good job they have such incredible catering options inside the ground.

They're banning blankets as well? 🤔 Seriously the flask ban is pathetic

sorry but its been a long time coming, I've lost count of the times I've watched those thermos flasks been launched towards the pitch at players or officials and don't even get me started on the number of fights where they've been used..what a crock of 💩 WFC! Safety or 💰💰? 🤔

Ian pope sounds laughable , what an embarrassing statement WatfordFC be banning sharp ish objects like car keys next that’s how embarrassing this is !!

The stewards this season have gone through my daughters lunch box at one game and made her empty her pocket at another to prove it was a bar of chocolate. She’s 7. Other stewards were laughing at the OTT nature of some of the goons who are more like pub bouncers looking for aggro

WatfordFC you are a disgrace to this community. Don't hide behind safety when the decision is purely financial. You do nothing but lie to us as supporters and enough is enough. You are rotten on and off the pitch.

The club has gone to the dogs. Good times are over. No longer a family club. Just another money making bunch of wankers.

Perhaps you can follow up with the club if there has ever been an incident of hot liquids or a flask being used as a weapon. If not, then that statement as a reason is laughable.

My 12 yr old always takes a lunch bag, it was checked & no issue He has ASD/ADHD/Anxiety & because of his medication has varied hunger times It's even recorded in his EHCP

There have been examples where supporters have been prevented from taking sandwiches in, was that because they could be used as missiles? Maybe Mr Pope could clarify?

I'm not sure this is legal anymore Cinemas had to change their policy Ok no alcohol because of their licence No nuts etc because of high risk allergies But can't stop other food and drink

And charging £2.60 for a tea once you’re in there… it’s a teabag and hot water 🤯

I bet a lot of it is due to lost revenue…they’ll be putting pay gates on the toilets next!

The catering at Watford is at best crap, flasks and your own grub is traditional for some folk. Nothing to do with boosting sales for the caterers then . If you can get served .

WatfordMayor crazy, there’s a lot of old boys that spend a lot of money to support their club that probably can’t afford it but it’s their passion. Crazy.

I was stopped taking a Costa coffee in yesterday in a cardboard cup. How can that be a weapon when they sell coffee in the stadium?! So if we want a hot drink we have to buy whatever the club is offering which is not the nicest tasting! 😡

Maybe Watford should look at how much cash is going in pockets to get round cashless outlets cheaper to keep card in pockets

It's petty & pathetic. The range & quality of catering for a top club is abysmal & massively overpriced. There is no rational reason for banning thermos flasks & whilst I'm writing there are FAR TOO MANY stewards employed on a matchday like yesterday, an unnecessary expense.

Are you trying to get a copy from the SAG meeting? Maybe look at all the other clubs SAG reports, surely if it's that dangerous ALL clubs would have banned flasks.
