Waterboys and World Party star Karl Wallinger has died Musician Karl Wallinger has died at the age of 66. The star is known for being part of The Waterboys, of The Whole Of The Moon and How Long Will I Love You fame. He was also renowned for being behind neo-psychedelic band World Party, with such tracks as Ship of Fools and Is It Like Today. The musician contributed music to the Clueless soundtrack, and briefly worked as musical director for The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
He formed World Party in 1986 ‘We went our musical separate ways for many years but kept in contact, we’d planned to record together again, alas. ‘I’m going to miss you, travel well Karl. His family are in my thoughts this very sad day.’ Wallinger’s musical career began as he played with numerous bands while growing up in Wales.
