Like the Australia bushfires which saw millions of animals and dozens of people lose their lives.
Tragically, many of them died – but many also survived, thanks to the help of animal emergency services and volunteers, like the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital outside Sydney.Over the next few days, 26 surviving koalas including seven joeys , will be released into the wild, including the utterly adorable four-year-old Anwen – who was overjoyed to be back in her natural habitat.
For months, while her wounds healed, she just laid quietly in a basket, but once she was moved to the rehabilitation centre, her inner spark finally came back.
