🗣️ 'When I f*** up, they can also tell me. I think it should be the other way around as well.' Max Verstappen feels he should be able to be critical of his Red Bull F1 team if it helps them improve, after its SingaporeGP qualifying fuel error ⬇️

Verstappen made his frustration clear after a miscalculation by the team saw him need to abort his final lap in Q3, because he didn’t have enough fuel to complete it and then get back to the pits with the required amount for an FIA sample still in the tank.

He was ordered to pit as he approached the final corner of the lap, and responded by repeating on the radio: “Why? What the fuck?”who was ahead. When asked by Autosport about his frustration, given how rarely his team has let him down, Verstappen made it clear that any criticism can work both ways. “Because that's how we keep each other heading into the right direction, because we want to be perfect, and we don't want to be good. We want to be perfect.”

“I think we got to little bit surprised that of course, we had that extra lap,” he said. “But you can track that, you [can] see that coming. That's why I don't really understand how that was missed.

adamcooperF1 What a team player. I’m sure that attitude breads all kinds of loyalty.

adamcooperF1 There appear to be different tolerances for different drivers, which is unfair. Personally, I understand the frustration in the moment. But I would hope they'd recover quickly and apologise. Verstappen seems to lack the maturity and manners to do that.

adamcooperF1 He's a nasty bit of work, but in that regard he's driving for the right team.

Yeah, sure. But the work of litigating errors to improve team performance is not typically done by screaming the f-word again and again at your team. On a radio. Broadcast internationally.

Max got mad at the messed up plan, vented, and everyone can move on. Should they bottle it all up and then be all passive aggressive to each in the garage? It wasn't personal, it wasn't an attack. There are some viewers doing too much pearl clutching.

Aborting the penultimate run made no sense. Not a pole lap but 4th or 5th?

You’re an employee, you’re paid to do your job. If I was your employer, and you spoke to me like that in public, I’d sack you on the spot. The team should fine him.

It’s your word, we’re just in it.

There should be an interesting response to this 😂

Of course he should be able to....In private. That's what a real drivers do, do you ever hear Lewis criticise his team in public ?
