Vegetable joke is funniest gag at the Edinburgh Fringe

A joke about vegetables has made it to the top of the menu as this year's funniest at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Without naming the comics behind each one, 2,000 members of the British public were invited to choose the funniest."I keep randomly shouting out 'Broccoli' and 'Cauliflower' - I think I might have Florets".Olaf Falafel boasts that he is the"8th funniest" comedian in Sweden On his joke claiming the top spot, Falafel said:"This is a fantastic honour but it's like I've always said, jokes about white sugar are rare, jokes about brown sugar... demerara.""Someone stole my antidepressants. Whoever they are, I hope they're happy" - Richard Stott"A cowboy asked me if I could help him round up 18 cows. I said, 'Yes, of course. - That's 20 cows'" - Jake Lambert"Sleep is my favourite thing in the world.

Luke Hales, Dave channel director, said:"What a year it's been for current affairs and British eccentricities!

Funny ? Ha ha ..... the choice of the funniest joke is more funny than the joke ....

Shat myself laughing

Sorry, where's the joke?

Vegitablism, wants reporting, actually it's about as funny as a pool of vomit on the floor.

Sounds like a Tim Vine castoff

If this was the best joke, I'm glad I didn't go.

OH NO MY SIDES HAVE SPLIT

Strange that the PC zealots haven't complained of discrimination as only one of the jokes is from a female and none are ethnic!! Or do the PC police understand that a joke is funny regardless of physical characteristics!!

We’ve been telling this joke in Somerset for years! So do we get a trophy?! paytheman

The cow joke seems familiar - I think TimVine or Gary Delaney may have a done a similar one. Can't remember which.

There will be a bunch load of people just waiting to be offended by this joke

So what happened to “ There was an English man a Scots man and an Irish man...”

Just sad. Fringe has lost it

this seems more of an indictment of the fringe festival than praise for the comedian if i'm honest

The joke was: 'I keep randomly shouting out 'Broccoli' and 'Cauliflower' - I think I might have Florets'
