Alice Bender, from Phoenix, Arizona, lets her eight-months old son eat sand. She said children shouldn't be afraid of germs while they are breast-feeding. She said it was a way for the baby to develop his immune system safely.

Apart from the odd curiosity in small children, about different textures, we humans don’t really like the taste of dirt. Unless our body has a severe calcium deficiency. So I’d say this mamma needs to take her child to a doctor and have child tested for any deficiencies.

She is right Re breastfeeding it is best for any baby & their immune system that’s medical fact. Having seen at toddler groups everyone’s kids put just about everything In their mouths toys, grass , stones as all kids try to do.The lack of concern by ALL parents was easy to see.
