Using AI to improve your dental care and keep you smiling 😁😁 zaamigo_ dentalcare teethcare smile AI science innovation technology

Interview conducted by Emily Henderson, B.Sc.Jul 15 2022 insights from industrySeverin StalderCEO and FounderZaamigo

We are working towards an “AI-dentist” with the collected expertise of the best dentists. We want to make the vast experience of dentists available to everyone instantly.People miss 40% of tooth surfaces when brushing their teeth. Why is this, and what effects are associated with poor brushing? We brush our teeth every day, but with hardly any feedback. That’s really difficult. It’s like singing without listening, walking without seeing, or cooking without tasting.

At Zaamigo, you have created a dental camera that is able to provide in-depth analytics of your teeth. Please can you tell us more about how this camera works and the information it gives users? The camera connects to iPhones and iPads wirelessly. The images are then analyzed on the device with our AI algorithms that were trained on hundreds of thousands of images. We analyze each image for stains, plaque, inflamed gums, and brushing technique.

We chose to package these tips into badges. It’s a playful and engaging way, especially for the younger demographic.

Fury as nurses 'banned from drinking water or using fans' as heatwave sweeps across UKSome nurses have reported they have been banned from drinking water or using fans in hospital wards despite a heatwave sweeping across the country. Fake news If this is true there’s a case to be made that anyone telling staff to not stay hydrated is breaking H&S law. Whilst there’s no maximum workplace temp (unlike the minimum) I think it’s still a breach to not exercise an effective duty of care during a heatwave. HealthAndSafety People will say I don’t believe it But I do after working nearly 40 years for nhs it’s full of pen pushers and non front line workers
