Conscientious objectors pardoned in South KoreaMen who refused mandatory military service were subjected to prison - and social stigma. Western democracies will be struggling to put boots on the ground in the event that they have to go to war one day. With all the UNHR directed and supported social freedoms, peace, love, respect, choice, not offending, not hating and the inevitable protests and children activism. This Spartan-like conscription mentality looks fairly good as far as quelling Pyongyang's consistent threats is concerned. I should think the same forceful conscription exercise occurs in neighbouring North Korea. Having said that, why not let's make it Athen-like conscription?
