Nottingham Forest are expected to discover their punishment for breaking financial regulations this week, but relegation rivals Everton will have to wait a little while longer.
An independent commission heard Forest’s case on March 7 and 8. The rules state a decision must be provided within one week of the conclusion of the hearing, meaning it could be announced on Monday. Their campaign resumes on Saturday, March 30, when they host Crystal Palace at the City Ground.
The Premier League have put in place a backstop date of May 24 - five days after the final round of fixtures - for the situation to be concluded for both Everton and Forest. It means there is the possibility of teams still not knowing where they stand in terms of relegation and survival after the last game has been played.
