Celtic thrashed a red-faced Aberdeen side 6-0 as their return to Premiership action turned emphatic at Parkhead.
There was an uneasy atmosphere even before the ball got rolling. A 6-0 defeat to leave Champions League hopes in tatters can do that to a fanbase but dig a little deeper and the reasons are more clear-cut. In a financial year where the bank balance is bursting at the seams, fans want more star power waltzing into Parkhead and the Green Brigade's banning has further divided punter opinion.
It was a procession of home chances and Jonny Hayes' foray into the penalty box he once defended couldn't create an opening his side desperately needed. A chop from Yang left Parkhead purring but they couldn't find a third goal and a second from Kyogo after a cutting O'Riley pass left more gaping holes in the red sea that was parting wider with every through ball.
Wing wizards There's been questions raised over Celtic's recruitment strategy this week. Is it too project-focused? Is there enough money being spent on players ready for the here and now? Can stars step up their game from domestic business to Europe's top table? Coming to Glasgow from the other side of the world is bound to come with its adaptation teething issues. But in Palma and Yang, Celtic appear to have landed two players with an eye for glamour on the wing.
