Many will be given a cash boost

Universal Credit claimants will soon receive a Christmas bonus from the Department for Work and Pensions amid the cost of living crisis.

The one off payment is tax free, and those who are eligible should receive it automatically so there is no application process.A DWP spokesperson said: "The Christmas Bonus is a one-off tax-free £10 payment made before Christmas, paid to people who get certain benefits in the qualifying week. This is normally the first full week of December."

It will show as ‘DWP XB’ on your bank statement. For those in Scotland claiming the new Adult Disability Payment, they will also be eligible for the payment.
