The Advertising Standards Agency bans adverts claiming people found work faster on universal credit.

"Myth: you have to wait five weeks to get any money on universal credit. Fact: if you need money, your job centre will urgently pay you an advance."

The ASA said it considered that readers would interpret the wording"move into work faster" to refer to secure ongoing employment, but in fact the 2017 study the claim was based on had included"people who had worked for only a few hours on one occasion during the relevant period".

"The next government must engage with the compelling evidence that points to the harm universal credit is causing, leaving many people reliant on food banks, and others destitute," she said.

mainstreamindi1 mainstreamindi1 you're poor and I hate you

the lying effing tory party.

Let's be honest that our benefit system needed a change. Isolated stories of universal credit get more news space than the success of those who work in job centres. The staff deserve some praise. Help the staff in job centres. They believe in universal credit.

I can't tell what is worse; that the government have tried misleading people, or that they can't take responsibility and admit they shouldn't have published the advert without sufficient evidence to back up their claims.

All fake. Universal Credit comes in many disguises. The two faces of Screen Actor Guild: Comedy & Tragedy. We give them credit, we trust that they are honest, we believe what they say, yet they are professional liars, that is their job description.

You couldn't make it up! When will conservative mps come out and blame them on universal credit for not having enough common sense...

That was a Mis for Universal Credits.

Notice how they only do this crap when it comes to policies actually aimed at helping people.
