Organisers say there are real concerns within the LGBTQ+ community about 'police homophobia'.

Mr Tatchell believes the deaths were not taken more seriously because of assumptions officers made about the victims' sexuality.

Mr Tatchell said there were many "good" police officers, who were welcome to march in civilian clothing: "Our objection is not to them but to the police as an institution that is failing the LGBT+ community," he said.

However, Mr Tatchell said he did not agree that a police presence at Pride should end, as he believed Pride was a "potential target" for extremists.

Not very inclusive just saying

What they should be doing is catching criminals, and stop waisting public money on publicity stunts. The only time you see a copper now, is when they want to show you a silly award they just won. Nobody wants to see an overweight, weak copper, dancing in the street.

If they are off duty then what's the problem.

Who are they to determine what the police should do? As long as they’re not covered in the ridiculous rainbow & Are monitoring Drug Use they should be where needed. If trouble started they’d be crying the police abandoned them.

When do they run the country

hgc481 The police should not be marching anyway.

So there's inclusion, and then there's selective inclusion. Riiiight. Hypocrisy

First they banned the Lesbians, now the police. Who next?

Good idea put em all in drag

I was under the impression that Pride was a protest march, so why would the Police not be there. I do think that they should police the event properly and not dance around like they are at a party, more professionalism please.

Anyone wondering why the Police may have felt it necessary to take part/display support for such events, look no further.

Good.

No, the Police should not ‘March in uniform’. However, on duty Police should be at the March in uniform POLICING THE PRIDE MARCH. As in doing the job they are paid to do.

'Having a police presence at Pride as well as patrolling Pride, makes Pride unsafe for our community.' right, pull all officers off the march and save taxpayers the money.

Good. Police are part of what Pride is meant to protest. They shouldn't be welcome. Next let's kick out every corporate sponsor who uses the parade as an advertising opportunity

The police told by the organiser not too…..really! Who’s in charge of our police force these days

And why not? We are supposed to love in an open democracy

Ah, free country media.

Let all the strange people March alone then when they need help it won’t be there for them.

This is what happens when you attempt to placate a minority.

The organisers don’t have a choice. They are free to act like nonces for the day, but they are not free to be unsupervised

You’d think such an authoritarian group would welcome the police…

They should have been told this by their senior officers. What is this march about anyway? A declaration of which hole?

Lack of inclusivity is a bit ironic.

Yes they do not want the Met.

Oh no! Now they’ll just have to do with making shit Tik-Tok videos.

Not in my name. metpoliceuk are very welcome and have always added to the day. Say no to hatred and division.

No police but innocent children are encouraged to attend, memo to the police, how ever many officers you were sending times that by 10.

Those that intimidated the peaceful lockdown protestors in London many times also looking like complete idiots now too. ✌️

As far as I'm concerned this event is like any other event. The Police need to be there in force. Showing there presence. Any other march in London would be dealt with in exactly the same manner.

They have in years past , and were very welcome then, and it was lovely to see, nothing has changed , only the rise of the discriminatory hateful Illiberal Woke Left .

Marginalised group in society told they're not welcome in the name of inclusion 🤔

It’s not up to the organisers whether or not, or even how, the event is policed.

Well when the great ignorant unwashed start harassing and abusing them they better not dial for the police.

But is ok to dance on BGT.

So pride organisers determining police policy now it’s all too ridiculous

Well...they should be working so...

Event organisers are not above the law. Uniformed police should not be mingling, marching, twerking, dancing, wearing make-up or pratting about. It's not a paid jolly and its not acceptable.

We need the police to keep us all safe with or without their uniform.

Shameful! We don't have police no-go areas in this country Police should turn up in double the numbers and not bow down to threats and coercion

I don’t think Pride needs policing. The police should be focusing on crime prevention and detection.

So basically metpoliceuk

Covid spike incoming.....
