Uncle Ben's to get revamp after criticism over racial stereotyping

Uncle Ben’s is to change its name and branding, following criticism that its 70-year old logo and imagery of a black farmer involved racial stereotyping.

Just ridiculous! Probably the best rice product on the market, indicating for the good, so why change it? The name has always been an icon of good quality food & the smiling face of assurance & kindness shows! The colour of the person is totally irrelevant to me! ALL IN A NAME!

I’m going to keep the next pack of Uncle Ben’s I buy with the old artwork. I’m going to miss the kindly face of that man. At no point in my time on this crazy world did I consider this racist or demeaning to black people. I wonder if KFC will be removing Colonel Saunders’ image?
