An inquest into the death of a 27-year-old man left unanswered questions as a coroner could not be clear he intended to bring his life to an end. Police were contacted by East Midlands Ambulance Service on July 16 last year after Toby James Patten was not breathing in Hawkridge Gardens, Beacon Hill Rise, St Ann's.
His partner arrived on the scene and was obviously distraught, the inquest heard. She said they had been in town together, had an argument and she left him in Beacon Hill Rise. But assistant coroner, Neena Sharma, said: "I can't be clear he had an intention to bring his life to an end. The affect of Ketamine would have no doubt clouded his judgement." She gave a narrative conclusion, adding that Mr Patten died as a result of hanging from a post whilst under the influence of drugs, including Ketamine and other drugs, which clouded his judgement.
