PC Christian Gottmann said: “It is completely unacceptable to break in to private land, and you are risking people’s livelihoods by posing a danger to their livestock and causing damage to their crops.”
The force said anyone caught will receive a Section 59 warning under the Police Reform Act 2002 that would allow them to seize offenders' vehicles if caught again in the next 12 months. “It is a criminal offence to drive your off-road vehicle on any land where the landowner has not given you permission – nowhere in Three Rivers have farmers given any permission to access their land for off-roading,” PC Gottmann added.
“We will be conducting additional proactive patrols in the coming months in an effort to deter this behaviour and to take action against any offenders.”
