The Ukrainian Community Group Centre was declared officially open by Mr Yevhen Mankovskyi, the Vice Consul of the Ukrainian Consulate in Edinburgh.

A new safe space for Ukrainian refugees who fled the war in their country opened its doors in Newmarket Street, Ayr.

On the day the Ukrainian Singing Group sang the Ukrainian National Anthem, while Doctor Olga Shakhunova explained the aims of the Centre. And highly respected young pianist, Valentyn Ovcharenko, played for the invited guests too. “They have organised fundraising events and been supported by a grant from The National Lottery Community Fund. This has allowed us to get the Centre ready for use by all the families.”
