Government ministers are wrong to say that the impact of coronavirus on health in the UK cannot yet be compared with other countries, according to leading academics whose data shows the peak of deaths in England was higher than that in Italy.

International comparisons are crucial - how else can we learn what works and what does not work. A comparison based on excess deaths normalised to population numbers is meaningful because it by-passes differences in counting and testing methods .
If you actually read the article, it simply confirms what the government had said, that it is better to compare all-cause mortality. (Which may take months to obtain) There’s no scandal here, they are simply trying to sensationalise the story.
Oh no, the U.K. is doing so well on it’s own, why should it it listen to lesser beings? 🤡
