Grahame Madge, a Met Office spokesman, said: “We associate April with April showers, and that exactly what the forecast for the week is showing.
“There is no signal for sleet or snow to affect lower elevations, but hail could become a significant feature for some. The spread of cold air over relatively warm ground across the UK creates the ideal conditions for the development of shower clouds, some of which have the potential to turn thundery and where this happens hail is a risk.”
And strong winds will begin picking up from Wednesday that could see gales of almost 60mph in some parts of Scotland. The Met Office forecasts “rather warm” conditions for the weeks leading up to the Easter weekend - which falls from April 19-22.The Weathertrending forecaster Sara Thornton said: “Tomorrow a cold front will be clearing rain southeastwards across England and Wales."They will bring a mixture of rain, hail, sleet and snow. Some thunderstorms are likely in the mix.
