UK turns to delivery cream teas during lockdown

Online searches for cream teas and afternoon teas to be delivered have surged since the UK went into lockdown, search data has suggested.

"It was really nice. We were meant to be away with all my family for a long weekend glamping, but obviously it's all not going ahead so my friends did it to cheer me up," she said."A cream tea is something I've never had before as a birthday gift and it's really lovely not having to make anything yourself.

"We like to go to National Trust places, normally we'd have a cream tea while we're there," she said.Kerry Real said her cream tea and ploughman's lunch was a family treatShe said the treat was from an independent, Lily's Secret Vintage Pop-up Tearoom, and it felt good to support them. The former young chef of the year said afternoon teas were now her bestsellers as people rang up and placed orders for friends and family nearby whom they were unable to visit.

A spokesperson for Rodda's, the Cornish clotted cream business, suggested the popularity may be to do with a wish for"home comforts".

Why is everyone acting like the BBC can only report on one thing at any given time? Some people in these comments clearly need a good cream tea...

Is Dominic Cummings delivering them?

Surprised FridayNightDinner hasn't cottoned on to this!

The only story not Dominic Cummings related by bbc news on my twitter feed. Everybody on Twitter gets mad and comments. Put your dummy’s back in and unfollow the bbc news if you decide you are not a fan.

Previous 12 hrs: BBC tweets 51 times, 32 about Cummings. One tweet about cream teas - “ BBC dumbing down and trying to distract from Cummings. Should be closed down” 🙄🙄🙄

How white. How British. How f**king racist. Ash Sarkar must be doing her nut...literally. Oh, btw...

So glad I stopped paying the licence fee .

The overpaid libtards in the BBC obviously can afford to have cream teas delivered. Meanwhile outside of this minority class mostly found in the republic of London, no one does.

I goto Barnard Castle for cream teas, like Dominic Cummings.

Where can I get one ?!

I bet this was in Durham......😂

UK turns against BBC during lockdown 😉

Reminiscent of the phrase attributed to Marie Antoinette in the run-up to the French Revolution, and quoted to show out of touch the aristocracy were: “Let them eat cake”.

No one needs that BBC. More pressing matters surely...

This guy just wants his annual salary paid like the other guy ifyouknowyouknow

What a trash article

The cat gets the cream and liars get just desserts. booforborris 8pm on tue BooAtBoris BooToBoris dominiccummimgs Dominicummimgs

Known as 'Devonshire Teas' in Australia.

quality - worth the licence fee

Dumb American here. What’s a “cream tea”? I’m assuming it’s not a cup of tea with cream.

Vital news. Seemingly more vital than a lying, deceitful PM & SPAD, corruption, cronyism & 100s still dying daily. Shame on you BBC. This is why people like me are cancelling their TV licence.

Thank god for that so DominicCumins ain’t news anymore? Shame on u all. By the way any sign of Corona? Not a mention on my Twitter unless the names been changed to Dominic. Country’s gone mad

36,793 COVID-19 deaths

I always wondered what the news would be like at 3 am. Now I wish I still wondered. -.-

Monty Python springs to mind here. Has the BBC any credibility left?

Obesity here we come ... SAVE THE NHS DONT eat cream tea today !

This is the good stuff, what the licence fee is all about. I love cream teas. Cream first, jam second. Then a bit more cream. Cup of tea.

No like the bbc to pop up with distraction tactics. May as well get on the bandwagon now.

Delivery cream teas? Go go bed you melt

Shut up, jeez, wake up UK!

bbclaurak how's Durham?
