UK no longer makes running on world stage, says ex-No 10 adviser

Britain has not made the running on any foreign policy issue since at least 2013 and suffers from a fundamental absence of strategic thinking about its role in the world, the most senior foreign policy adviser to David Cameron has said.

Pretty obvious.We haven’t been very powerful since the end of WW2 and certainly after Suez.What power we do have is by being lap dog to America.Also being in the EU helps project influence.Of course we’re in the middle of throwing that away.

All we have heard from the ethical latte brigade is the Uk should keep its nose out of world affairs. The very same people who I should add demand the UK takes action against Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Burma.

Some might say it's about time Britain woke up from it's delusions and realised this.

Absence of everything in the past three years! As soon as you Brexit there will be time and room again for these strategic efforts. nodoubt

So the Tories have gone back to their traditional insularity and, thanks to Farage, have taken half the country with them. How utterly sad that Britain is coming to a dead-end.

Ofcourse not. The last years have been squandered by working to reduce the influence of the UK, not increasing it. BREXIT will just speed up the inevitable decline.
