Concern is growing among employers about what to do if their staff cannot immediately return to work after holidaying in Spain.
She says she will not be able to claim statutory sick pay for workers who must isolate for two weeks upon returning for holiday for either of those businesses.Because one of her businesses only has three staff, it will also pile pressure on the remaining two staff if they have to cover the extra work for two more weeks.
Andrew Flintham, managing director of TUI UK and Ireland, said the government should have a"regionalised" policy. The UK imposed the restriction over the weekend after a spike in infections in some Spanish regions, including Catalonia, where Barcelona is located, and Aragon. Mr Flintham told the BBC that the government was"rightly nervous" about people's ability to move"relatively unchecked" around countries which had a spike of cases in certain areas.
they don’t act they xyz they act they are still xyz thus not there fault that 🇪🇸 etc is riddled enough for this decision to be taken thus have a go & word at them that basically from a punters view been talking 💩 about there own situation in the name of a 🏖 towel ?!? 👀🤔🤷♂️😷
Just stop with the “air bridges” rhetoric and acknowledge that the U.K. is much more badly affected by Covid right now than Spain!
Stop going to Spain. Stop Spanish coming in. Bet they don’t stop Spanish coming into Uk fucking circus. 🤡🤡
Just tell people to take a test on return ffs, much simpler, less obtrusive and will still allow our holiday companies to operate. This virus has more or less disappeared in the community
Dios mios x
Raab will ban all travel, Hancock will see to that.
Surely these bridges would take years to build? And what materials would they use and manpower?
So we can infect those too ?
Conservative Chaos!!!!
26 cases in the balearics last week, youre at more risk going to Newcastle. What the fuck are they playing at
I have zero sympathy for people who have chosen to leave the country for non essential trips (holidays) when we still have distancing etc in force. Trips out of the UK weren’t/aren’t banned however, they come with restrictions.
Can you add your signature? ✍️
All this is just stupid.... one minute u can go the next u can’t. Make a decision n stick with it . Allowing pple to book holidays but now they have to stay home for 14days afterwards
Are people travelling back from Spain going to have to wear ankle tags as I cannot see how a £1000 fine can be enforced to inconsiderate holiday makers not self isolating.
BBCPolitics Ask Johnson - he spent £83million on building an air bridge over the River Thames when he was Mayor... has he paid that back yet?
The irony of UKGov wanting to treat different parts of Spain differently to suit travel agents while taking devolved powers away from devolved nations to secure a UK unitary market. UKGov treating some Spanish Islands better than Devolved Nations of UK.
If your stupid enough to still book holidays to the islands dont be surprised when they're added when your away ,just leave it for a month or two
BBCPolitics Stunned to hear advice on quarantine. 'You need to isolate for 14 days after return unless you leave the country again.' So too risky to wander round a UK High Street, but okay to take that risk away to another country.... 🙄
Makes sense to me
It goes like this. Support us after the transition period is over ...OR ELSE
I still can’t figure out why people would pay to sit on a beach jammed with wall-to-wall people even without the virus!
DON'T DO IT. What's the point
Has the UK Govt came round to the idea that it's possible to have different travel rules & restrictions where one area of a country has lower infection rates than another or does Boris still think it's 'Bonkers' that Scotland should consider similar public health travel logic?
CoronaVirus SpainIsAFascistState
Hurry up and sort it ... currently slumming it in Ibiza..😎
The islands have lower infection rates than us, they are more worried about us bringing in the virus, this should have all been thought out before this incompetent Government panicked, introducing a quarantine four months too late 😷
Time to support the UK tourism industry and the jobs that it supports.
They need our money
They really don't know what the hell they are doing, absolute bloody shambles - resignboris
Just come home via Barnard Castle. Sorted.
Priceless....Do we really want to get on top of this pandemic or what.!!!!!!!
Are the Balearic and Canary Islands allowing visitors from mainland Spain? Seems a bit risky with the mainland having growing cases in some places. Be interested to know.
So they've done it before.
BBCPolitics Are mainland Spaniards banned from travel to Balearic and Canary islands ?
What’s to talk about? Common bloody sense is all that’s needed
Im going anyway
The cynical part of me thinks this all about applying pressure to EU member states over things like fishing rights. Tell a lie. All of me thinks this.
It is sometimes good to soak in seawater. This is because salt has a bactericidal action. After that, it becomes athlete's foot and it becomes difficult. There is a risk of jellyfish and radioactivity, but getting used to everything is important.
Really. Hmmmm
Don’t see the point of this unless the islands ban visitors from mainland Spain 🤷♀️
BBCPolitics Obvious. MEDIA playing dumb
This stupid government should have thought about that before
It did seem a little ‘knee jerk’ to include all Spanish islands if only mainland Spain is the risk.
Until they decide it is time to ramp up the fear levels again and force people to stay at home.
Tenerife_Smurf hopefully this’ll be sorted by Friday, 🤞🏻 for you...
