The UK government is to suspend arms export licences to Turkey amid concerns over its military operation in northern Syria, Downing Street has said.
The Turkish government wants to create a"safe zone" in the area, where it can resettle as many as two million Syrian refugees currently in Turkey. BBC diplomatic correspondent James Landale said this did not mean all UK arms sales to Turkey were suspended - exports could continue under existing licence.

I'm sure advocacy group such as the CAAT would have preferred the UK govt severed any arms ties with Turkey rather than this seemingly light sanction- which technically still allows Turkey to trade arms deal with the UK. Sanctions worth slamming on Pres Erdogan should be total

It's a sad news. Turkey and UK are NATO allies. UK must understand the operation is against YPG/SDF terrorists. Not against Syrian Kurds... YPG/SDF attacks Turkey. They killed Turkish citizens. Some of Syrian Kurds fight together with Turkish troops against YPG/SDF.
The Saudi's just beheaded another female citizen in a public square. But that's ok I guess.
