York4EU One wonders how much more we are going to lose as time goes by!!!

Not convinced by the accuracy of this. Countries outside the EU have to follow gdpr for any EU citizens data. For the UK, we have the dpa18 which covers most of what is covered in gdpr, so I'd expect non-eu contries would still have to protect our data too.

'EU GDPR protection' - LOL. I've worked in banking IT in the UK for decades. Many functions are offshored to places like India and the personnel have full access to your data. Your sign away any rights to keep the data safely in the UK the moment you tick the acceptance box 🙄

Welcome to State 52.

No 'could' about - just received new Google Terms of Service which means US-based Google LLC will be the service provider

A slightly confused article. The data is already all over the world. As your interviewees state isn't it the legal protections and agreements that are at risk if we drop GDPR equivalence. Hopefully we won't drop these especially as we were one of the main architects

how do they define a 'British user' and 'British account', and what happens if a British person moves to the EU?

Thank god.. these rubbish GDPR laws hinder digital businesses and economies... so glad of Brexit that we are moving away from these stupid directives that nobody follows - not even the EU.

Struggling to find any benefit of Brexit so far....

Brexit spam

That's good. Those pop ups on every webpage are a nuisance.

The Data Protection Act 2018 is the UK's implementation of the GDPR and has been law for almost two years. It applies to data subjects, not the location of where the data is being held.

Do they promise!!! I don't know how many times I have had to click on bloody annoying notices. How does repeatedly clicking on things confirming that I have read something, I clearly haven't in half-a-second, help protect me? It does the opposite,I could be agreeing to anything!

Pretty sure that was what they voted for...

Not OK Google.

Why should they keep it? No part of the EU anymore.. And you will recognize, there are so many tiny things, which will see daylight drop by drop..

UK Brexit negotiator accused of treating Britain and EU as 'two different planets'Verhofstadt says it would be a ‘hell of a job’ to achieve success using David Frost’s approach To Verhofstadt, an independent, third-party country moving away from EU regulations is equivalent to being on 'two different planets.' In a nutshell, this is why Eurocrats don't understand the world outside their cosy, cosseted, unelected technocracy. Translation; “two different independent states”. You know, like the vast majority of the world. The EU is an authoritarian elitist dream. What is so wrong about being able to set your own standards and decide your own laws? Perhaps we (as indeed the overwhelming majority of nations) are on a different planet. One where we don't hand over powers to tombstone-teeth'd bellends like Verhoftwat.

UK-EU trade tensions descend into 'slide war'Two sides of negotiations issue flurry of documents through social media pdxraj if I were EU, I would not succumb to having UK get same benefits as members. EU just endorsed a fraudulent election result in Afghanistan taking it closer towards a civil war. An estimated 2 millions Afghans are expected to leave Afghanistan for Europe. EU is going to implode in to 27 pieces. Love the stories with 'sources', 'spokes person' and 'experts' Any chance naming any of these to make this credible?

UK refuses to include Elgin marbles in Brexit trade talks after EU negotiation draft leak‘They are the legal responsibility of the British Museum,’ says Downing Street We pinched them fair and square! Well of course they have. That's how Tories 'negotiate'. My way or no way. Didn't work for Maggie May, so why keep flogging a dead horse? we are now sovereign and should be allowed to keep that which we have already stolen.
