Britain's Covid cases fell over the weekend in what could be a sign the latest wave is peaking, but deaths and hospitalisations continued to rise.

UKHSA bosses said another 215,001 cases were recorded from Saturday to Monday, a five per cent drop.

It was the third day cases have fallen in the past fortnight after they also dipped last Friday and Tuesday. It comes barely four days before free lateral flow and PCR tests are set to be scrapped across England
