Fingers crossed 🤞

has said a plan to ‘gradually re-open our economy and society’ will depend on the effectiveness of the vaccine and whether enough people have had it.

Johnson said: ‘So with every jab that goes in we are becoming more confident that we will reach our target of offering a first dose to everyone in the top four priority groups by the middle of February.

He told the conference: ‘Although things have slowed down, and actually we’re at a plateau or possible decreasing across the country, that’s not true everywhere. In some cases, there are still some increases. ‘This isn’t coming down quickly, we remain at very high levels and it is going to take weeks for this to come down to really low levels.‘It is important with that, and the rollout of the vaccine programme, we start to see this changing, as the Prime Minister has said, and the vaccine programme should start to kick-in so we can see the effects in the middle of February.
