Covid: UK at 'tipping point', top scientist warns

However, the Office for National Statistics estimates 224,000 people in homes in England had the virus, up to 1 October - roughly double the figure reported for each of the preceding two weeks.

He warned that the UK is in a different position than it was during the first wave because"we are now are going into the colder, darker winter months".

I have to take this ‘top scientist’s opinions with a large slice of scepticism. It was, after all, this man who said there was a February 30th this year!

CONTROL, YOU PLACE FEAR IN THE PUBLIC AND THEY DO WHAT YOU WANT

We have been told that we are at a tipping point since the start of September. That’s a hell of a long ‘point’. A bit more scrutiny please otherwise you sound a bit daft.

I think the public is at 'tipping point'

When people are talking about tipping point and R-num no one really mentions the levels of sickness vs positive cases. Most of us has a virus of some sort every day but most are harmless I believe that Covid may be endemic but may have mutated into a relatively harmless form.

Sure it is. Maybe if you ignore the upto 9/10 false positives rate then i can see why you might think that.

Top scientist!!! Saying exactly what the BBC want to hear

Yet we know not all scientists agree on this but that’s not for general debate is it!! How strange this comes out a day before the UK gov prep to lock us down harder.....

Tipping point to what we are not all going to die let us get on with our lives leave us alone.

We passed the tipping point weeks ago when we reached 1000 cases with the R above 1, that was the moment we were locked into this second wave and when strict measures should’ve been implemented, now getting below that 1000 figure in cases with the R below 1 feels a long way away.

Positive tests are not 'cases'. Deaths remain on the floor. But the incurably panicked will continue to panic because the media and G'ment want to keep us terrified. Why?

As someone who hates Tory govt and thinks BJ has made a shambles of it, I also believe the only way forward now is personal responsibility. As Van Tam says: it spreads via close human contact, and people are not doing enough to limit unnecessary contact. It’s that level of simple

'Top scientist' 🤣🤣🤣

More fear mongering bollocks

Spouting the same fear mongering sound bytes time and time again? No mention of the 7000 scientists that have said lockdowns need to stop immediately....no didn’t think so....doesn’t fit the narrative of compliance through fear.....

Wow the World Health Organisation finally comes out to appeal to world governments NOT to use Lockdowns as a solution to the v1rus because they just make poor people poorer, but only to used them to regroup resources....

Drop Zone 2 please Ben

Lying scumbags

So that’s the real reason Government ministers won’t go on Good Morning Britain as they will gamble for the ‘jackpot coin’ to go over the edge during their interview with benshephard

The solution is clear. We need to lockdown the government and mainstream media. Muzzles on as well.

blame boris simple

We were at a tipping point there... We're past that now. We need a full national lockdown to stop this.

There is a reason NZ has twice conquered level 1: yes, we needed great leadership but more than that we had to take ownership. Five million people said we will fight this, we will accept the rules. People powered our recovery.

Utter bollocks

We cannot carry on like this indefinitely. The virus is never going to disappear.

Oh give it's rest ffs.

WOW WHAT A WAY TO BOOST THE MORALE :D !!!!!! By saying the same thing.......again

I think it’s too late, again. We’re playing Snakes and Ladders. We’re back to March. The only difference is doctors and nurses are exhausted but they know how to treat patients more than before. A little pay rise will cheer them up, BorisJohnson ?

Great. I'll take Drop Zone 1 please, Ben. Well, the government don't have anything better to do than play games with us, why can't we do the same?

Stay safe my friends

Never-ending doom and gloom excitedly brought to you by the once reputable, BBC.

Again?! This must be like the 5th time we’ve been “at tipping point” Perhaps if we’re at tipping point so often, that rather suggests that the current strategies aren’t working? Time for a rethink? 🤔

We need to lockdown a circuit-breaker.

More deaths because this Conservative government aren't doing enough to help the elderly who are scared to go out and buy food. Unbelievable that they have not been told to shield again and that they will be looked after by the state. CoronavirusPandemic

Stating the obvious does nothing. Tell the people how to stop the virus. And you the people. LISTEN and ACT.

How many people will care for the warning? If the warning works, there is no more Covid thret in the UK now.
