UK announces new licences for oil and gas drilling in North Sea

Liz Truss has been looking to reassure the public following yesterday’s warning from the National Grid that there could – in a worst case scenario – be scheduled blackouts or temporary energy cuts.

Today she announced new licences for oil and gas drilling in the North Sea – no short term fix – and in fact it’s the immediate problem of price rises, despite the energy cap that is concerning so many, not least businesses.

ameliaajenne May help with supply issues but won’t be any cheaper to the U.K. public. These are private profit making companies if anybody thinks they’ll be charitable to the U.K. market they’re deluded. This will be more money in company coffers and another blow to the climate crisis.
