Britain’s shortest-serving prime minister has nominated 14 people to receive honours – but the list could have been longer.only managed to last in the top job for 49 days, but despite this she was still able to submit resignation honours.
Currently there are 14 people on her resignation honours list – and at least two people turned down nominations from the former PM,One of them felt it would be ‘humiliating’ to receive an honour from Truss, while the other said they didn’t feel they deserved it. The identities of the two people who turned down awards are not yet known.
Ms Truss’s resignation honours list nominated four people for life peerages and 12 people for honours like knighthoods, damehoods, OBEs, CBEs and MBEs.The nominated life peers are thought to be:Matthew Elliott, who ran the Brexit campaign in 2016Mark Littlewood, the outgoing head of the Institute of Economic Affairs
Her list supposedly also recognises a ‘handful’ of ‘local community heroes’ in her constituency in Norfolk. It’s understood Kwasi Kwarteng, the chancellor who oversaw the disastrous mini-budget during Ms Truss’s brief tenure, is not on the list.
