Twelve more patients in England have tested positive for coronavirus, taking the total number of UK cases to 35.
Three patients were close contacts of a known case which was transmitted in the UK, chief medical officer Prof Chris Whitty said.Out of the remaining eight cases, six had recently returned from Italy and two had been to Iran. Prof Whitty said these patients were from London, West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, Hertfordshire and Gloucestershire.

When you announce new cases, perhaps you could also caveat it with the patients' conditions? 12 cases of a mild fever and cough is not worrying; 12 cases of near death pneumonia is worth worrying about. Context is important to keep people calm.

the government needs to start advising employers about paying employees that contract coronavirus so they can isolate themselves! Otherwise ppl will have no choice but to spread the virus which is against government guidelines, employers are abusing the situation
