That’s right, if BBC is the British broadcaster the government should fund it, but the Tories govenments since 2010 did not fund it so they should shut up at best
It’s easy to justify if you value objective facts & community cohesion. It’s hard to justify if you want to pursue a relativistic, populist aganda, develop a regressive core vote, pursue grievancepolitics and PSB BBCNews gets in the way.
The Tories have stirred up a hornets' nest not caring yet about the consequences. If the current method of funding the BBC with a hypothecated tax collapses then it will either have to be funded directly by the government or dumped behind a paywall (not possible for radio).
