Rishi Sunak has vowed to tackle the NHS backlog and Liz Truss has pledged to review EU laws as both make promises in the hope of becoming prime minister

Catherine Barnard, deputy director of the UK in a Changing Europe think tank, warned that greater divergence from EU law would create further barriers to trade, both between the UK and the bloc and between Britain and Northern Ireland.

"Is it going to be turned off entirely?" the EU law professor asked, adding that if it is to be replaced then there are questions over parliamentary time and Civil Service capacity. The minister would be instructed to come forward with the first set of recommendations for rules to be scrapped or changed within 100 days of Mr Sunak entering No 10.Mordaunt insists she's 'up to the job' and says attacks on her are a 'big fat compliment'

"Neither Liz Truss or Rishi Sunak have got a plan to get the country through the cost of living emergency and NHS crisis. It shows why we need a general election as soon as the new prime minister is in place, so we can kick out this failing Conservative government for good."

RishiSunak trussliz All lies, lies and more lies. Tories never learn. We are sick of them.

12 years in power and in cabinet office and now telling us what is wrong and what needs to change when it was them making the laws and doing what has made us wrong in the first place . What a country we have become not this lot running it us lot thinking it is true

Action Man and Barbie - is this the best the country has to offer ?

They both need to actually be more specific about how exactly these things would be carried out

It's about time that the government relieses what a mistake it was getting rid of Boris Johnson.

How can Truss review EU laws when we’re not in the EU?

Ask trussliz why she was the opening speaker at a religious conference, after which the gov removed language from an official statement protecting abortionrights genderequity

Reality dysfunction 😎

Wouldn’t it be a good time for Starmer to have some concrete alternative policies that we could get behind.

Why is this being televised and front-and centre on MSM, let’s not forget 200k Tory member will now choose our next PM- not the electorate, representative, democratic and the British way.

Got to love those Tory promise's.. untill you remember they never materialize.

Words, words, words, say the right things to the Tory membership as that is who this is they’re audience. Words are cheap. Get elected and then do whatever they want to do as they know they are unaccountable and totally unaccountable.

Loada shite

Shouldn't make promises you can't, or in this case, have no intention of ever keeping.

Both making pledges they won't keep or be in office long enough to see through. Games Up!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

But which one will offer FREE ENERGY for all - whilst hitting climate change targets - and a free space trip to the moon for all.... They will win.

I bet he does! Remind me again who was chancellor for two years?
