“With still much time left before November, both campaigns will need to continue to raise significant funds,” says Todd Landman, an American political scientist at the University of Nottingham.Billionaire and former Democratic presidential hopeful, Mike Bloomberg, recently gave $19m to FF Pac, a super PAC backing Biden’s re-election effort.
Landman says that contemporary campaigns need more money than in the past as they project their messages across multiple channels and in different ways, including local campaign offices and face to face campaigning, large public events, mainstream media, and social media platforms.
