Lady Bay Bridge remains closed in Nottinghamshire on Tuesday morning, July 5, after a lorry crashed off the structure yesterday morning. The bridge, one of the major routes into and out of Nottingham,

was closed throughout the day and it is not yet known whether it will be able to re-open today due to safety concernsPolice, firefighters and paramedics were all called to the scene yesterday morning and an air ambulance was seen around the area. One man was injured in the incident but Nottinghamshire Police later confirmed his condition was not life threatening or altering.

Last night, a joint statement issued by Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council said: "Lady Bay Bridge is also expected to remain closed on Tuesday and so we are advising motorists to plan alternative routes using Trent Bridge, Clifton Bridge or Gunthorpe Bridge. Please keep in mind that these routes are likely to be busier due to the disruption on Lady Bay Bridge.

"We will keep you updated on when the bridge will be reopened and thank you for your patience while we work to keep you safe." According to travel monitoring website Inrix, the road remains closed in both directions.
