A transgender boy won a court case against staff at Coon Rapids High School in Minnesota after its staff barred him from using a boys’ locker room
Judge Peter Reyes, who wrote the ruling on behalf of the majority of judges who ruled in the student’s favor said: ‘NH identifies as male, has socially transitioned to male, and lives as male. Others also identify him as male and treat him as male.Minnesota’s Court of Appeals in St Paul, pictured, ruled the boy had experienced unfair discrimination because of his gender identity
NH released a statement sharing his delight at the ruling, saying: ‘I never want any student to experience the discrimination and cruelty I experienced from the adults at my school. Minnesota’s Department for Human Rights said the decision would help protect other transgender students from discrimination at school, and help boost their mental health.
