'You've got kids lying about on cardboard asleep, there's people in wheelchairs and pensioners who need medication'

Tourists stranded in the Canary Islands following a Saharan sandstorm say they have been left"devastated".

Graeme Wharton, of Sunderland, said his family have been stuck at Gran Canaria airport with"zero information" from tour operator TUI.Mr Wharton, who had been due to fly to Manchester, said his family had been at the airport since early on Monday having also spent more than 10 hours there on both Saturday and Sunday.

"TUI brought us to the airport at 10am yesterday and we've been here ever since with zero information. "We're devastated. It's the lack of information from TUI. There's no information with regards a flight to take us home and when it will be here."The holiday firm has apologised to customers and said it was"working tirelessly to get everyone to their destination as quickly as possible".500km across the Atlantic Ocean.

Sounds like most UK seaside town's

Having spent some time in Mumbai, I saw people with infants sleeping on cardboard beneath underpasses and beside roads every day of their lives. Let’s have some perspective here.

Sounds like London - sort out the homeless

With all that’s going on, this is pretty low on my news list.

Sh1t happens, get on with it.

Unfortunate circumstances effect random person !!!!!! Get over it. Life happens just deal with it without bitching and craving attention.

Going to the Canaries in winter and complaining about the sand is akin to going to the Caribbean in the summer and complaining there's a hurricane.

How can the government claim to care, claim to be protecting its people yet allow this to happen and continue. Where has the humanity gone?

And their point is? Whingers..

Definition of devastated is 'to cause severe and overwhelming shock or grief'. Hardly that! Also the children's swimming team are 'stranded' yet they are being put up in an hotel by easyJet .🤔

Perhaps a simple explanation of what sand particles can do to an aircraft engine may help? They are safe and will be home a few days late. Not really a story.

u just cannot blame mother nature

Just waiting for the cry of help to the government...!

Arrr. Didums.

Is this news ? You really have become a national embarrassment. What kind of journalistic light are you shining on our government? What are they doing re coronovirus, flooding etc? Why don’t you report on the ethniccleansing of Muslims in Myanmar & Palestine? racism

Lifes a bummer look on the bright side you've got another days holiday. Its better than dying in a plane crash,!

And the same people who are complaining would be moaning if the plane went down? Actually no they won't, well not for long anyway.

3rd world problems

Tough!

Why do people not take medication with them for longer than the holiday. Always had a couple of weeks spare with me.

Sounds like the results of how the Conservatives have treated the NHS and it’s Patients.

Idiots. Natural occurrences happen. Would they want to try a take off in a sand storm?

Boo hoo. Try sleeping on cardboard every night. On the street. Then come complaining.

And.....

Don’t moan as hotel that put stranded people up is the one where Italian doctor tested positive for coronavirus

Stop whining people. Shit happenes when you travel 😄

Sandstorm sent by EU to annoy holidaymakers from brexitland.

Seriously?!? Its peak season for the Harmattan. You have to be ignorant to travel in northeast Africa in winter and not expect it. Literally every travel guide you read warns you of this fact.

That's life.👍

Maybe get a disclaimer for those sad enough to complain about their safety being looked after and a flight crew mad enough to try and fly then don’t expect any comeback when they crash

FFS! Do you know what? The next time I'm on holiday and cop for a dodgy egg, the first thing I'm going to do is make a video and blame the fucking government. PISS OFF!!!

Shit happens when travelling. Get over it !!

Yep and there are people who live like that all the time in Tory Britain. Quit whinging

And useless chemists who get prescriptions right

So who are they blaming for the sandstorm? The EU will be glad to see the back of us I imagine.

And we need a BBC to tell factual news.

Do not go on holiday then

Sounds like Tory Britain
