The 38-year-old resident of Dothan, Alabama, lost her right to vote in 2008, when she was convicted of fraudulent use of a credit card. She was on probation for over two years, then served a few months behind bars ending in early 2011, at which point she would have been eligible to vote in most states.
State rights matter. I’m thinking when she committed credit card fraud she didn’t care about the victims or her right to vote.
what about all the illegals being paid to vote
deray This is America.

'Guardian Doesn't Know What A Poll Tax Is.'
And in true Guardian newspeak journalisming style, not paying your court ordered restitution to the people you stole from becomes a “poll tax”. And the kicker is, the real problem is that you stole more money than you can afford to pay back.
Not a 'Poll Tax'.... Misleading headline (clickbait)
Instead of vanity projects like running for office, billionaires like Steyer and Bloomberg could make a real difference and help people like this.
This is awful, voting is a right
If you read the piece it, again for the Guardian, reveals a different story than the one painted by the plaintive narrative headline. If you are a convicted felon you can vote but you must first pay off your court fines and restitution. Which would seem fair to most people.
There is absolutely no Constitutional support for depriving people of their rights to vote in federal elections. This is basically a seditious attempt to illegally influence elections.
Bloomberg will pay!
'anyone who has lost the franchise cannot regain it until they pay off any outstanding court fines, legal fees and victim restitution.' She committed a crime that saw jail time and has not paid her fines associated with it. I can sympathize, but don't commit felonies.
That’s not a poll tax. It’s more like losing your gun rights because of your crime. Except you can pay your fines and get your voting rights back. Can’t get your gun rights back.
